Purpose of the role

To join Make Events and own the overall new business strategy and work towards shaping the future growth of the business by identifying and pursing new business opportunities. There is strong emphasis on developing and maintaining client relationships to drive growth.

This high-profile role puts you at the heart of the business, reporting directly to senior leadership. You’ll work closely with all internal teams and take responsibility for creating a collaborative environment to ensure a successfully managed client onboarding process which pushes expectation boundaries and remains achievable. We are looking for someone who will hold our values at the core of their work and focus on creating the ultimate experience for all our clients.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Drive new business opportunities and revenue growth through a strategic sales plan, positioning Make Events as the leading corporate event management agency.
  • Research, target, and build relationships with key decision-makers at dream brands, ensuring smooth transitions from initial contact to long-term clients.
  • Own inbound client enquiries, lead the briefing process, and coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to deliver tailored event proposals.
  • Engage with potential leads on social media and utilise ECRM to nurture relationships and follow up on leads.
  • Attend networking events and conferences, representing Make Events to generate new business opportunities and foster brand awareness. Some of these events may take place in the evening and weekends.
  • Lead meetings with potential clients, presenting tailored solutions, addressing concerns, and delivering compelling pitches.
  • Build partnerships with venues and suppliers to generate referrals and enhance Make Events’ reputation and client base.
  • Oversee and update the prospect pipeline using HubSpot, tracking leads, forecasting sales, and prioritising high-value prospects.
  • Organise and adapt workload to meet deadlines, follow up on prospects, and adjust to evolving client needs.
  • Accurately track and report sales activities, results, and revenue, providing insights to refine sales strategies and improve performance.

Role Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, business development, or a similar role
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets, with a strong history of generating new business and driving revenue growth.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels, negotiate and confidently network
  • Experience with CRM tools, preferable HubSpot, to manage prospects, track sales activity, and forecast revenue.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to achieve shared goals.
  • Time Management skills –exceptional management of multiple tasks and ever-changing circumstances.
  • Initiative and Ownership – ability to self-manage and own all elements of the role without management.
  • Ability to communicate with the team in a positive manner to problem solve under pressurised circumstances and create desired outcomes.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within a fast-paced environment

General Requirements:

  • Current driving licence.
  • Ability to travel around the UK & overseas.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
