For our latest 'Getting To Know' feature, we caught up with Brian Wheatley - 21 Years as a freelancer / all round creative designer cameraman and photographer
Q: In a nutshell, tell us the about your services and the some of the industries you’ve freelanced for?
A: PowerPoint Designer/Show Support, Graphic Designer, Video Cameraman & Editor, Photographer, 3D Set Design, Social Wall Pro and Live Web Streaming.
Q: How did you get started in the events industry?
A: My best friend started his AV business the same time as I went freelance from leaving a big midlands design agency. He had a contact who needed a PowerPoint designer for a three day roadshow for Dixons electrical – the rest is history.
Q: Most memorable moment working as a freelancer?
A: So many too choose from! I think getting electrocuted whilst plugging in a plug into a wall socket at the same time as sitting with a client sorting their powerpoint out for an awards dinner. That was pretty shocking yet memorable!
Q: Best location you’ve worked at?
A: Northern Holland filming for Neopost. Holland is an amazing country and the people are lovely.
Q: If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself?
A: Save your money for when it’s quiet. And not to buy so many cameras!
