For our latest 'Getting To Know' feature, we caught up with Kylie Peavoy - Freelancer with over 15 years’ experience in the exhibitions and events industry, Working with organisers, corporates and agencies, Kylie has a wide skillset with meticulous project management and organisational skills, coupled with experience in managing key accounts and delivering complex events.
Q: In a nutshell, tell us the about your services and the some of the industries you’ve freelanced for?
A: I offer project management, business development consultancy, launch event support, exhibitor management, production management and onsite support across many industries such as sports, technology, training and development, health and wellbeing, consumer and trade events to name a few.
Q: How did you get started in the events industry?
A: I started out working on the Arabian Travel Market for Reed Exhibitions and absolutely loved the buzz of the event, being an integral part of the team during the build up and planning process, as well as onsite. I always remember the first time when the doors opened, the sense of achievement that keeps coming back every time I work on an event or exhibition!
Q: Most memorable moment working as a freelancer?
A: Working on the Rouleur Classic event last year, the event looked fantastic in a unique venue, Victoria House in central London. The atmosphere felt electric when it opened with Bradley Wiggins being there, it’s a great feeling being able to provide an experience for other people’s passions and interests.
Q: Best location you’ve worked at?
A: Austin, Texas – one of the best cities I’ve been to, alive 24/7!
Q: If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself?
A: I would say ‘enjoy every moment’ but I think I did just that! My advice would be to make even more contacts and network than I already have as its not a huge industry and the support and help you get at times when needed the most is invaluable. Social media wasn’t how it is now so it wasn’t as easy.
