Meet Nicky Moore

Nicky Moore

For our latest 'Getting to Know' feature, we caught up with the fab Nicky Moore - freelancer for 7 years but with over 17 years experience working in the live events industry.

Q: Hi Nicky, in a nutshell, tell us the about your services and the some of the industries you’ve freelanced for?
A: Full end to end project management including negotiation and delivery of services, technology and AV. Research, negotiate and manage contracts for venues and suppliers for events including conferences, AGM, private dinners and celebrations, awards, sporting events, networking and business meetings, online events for charities, trade associations, corporates and private clients

Q: How did you get started in the events industry?
A: By accident! I’d applied for a job with a charity but after my interview they asked me if I’d be interested in a role in their events team as they saw some transferrable skills from my previous career and thought my personality suited. I jumped at the chance ….and 9 years later I was their Head of UK Events

Q: Most memorable moment working as a freelancer?
A: Working in Monaco during the F1 Grand Prix. It was completely grid locked the entire weekend and we had use local buses. We abandoned one bus and ran bare foot down 200 steps to arrive on time, trying to look calm as we entered the hotel with minutes to spare… but I did get to meet Jude Law!

Q: Best location you’ve worked at?
A: St James’ Palace was incredible but also loved working in Madrid

Q: If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself when you first started out in the events world?
A: Stay focused, calm and always keep a sense of humour
