Louisa Watson

POV: When You Commit to Membership and it Pays Off

So Many Goals, Too Little Time
There are never enough hours in the day for Louisa Watson, Director of Marketing at Wyboston Lakes in Befordshire.

After all, there’s a lot going on across multiple different areas of the business, spanning:

* Over 50 meeting and event spaces, spread across 2 purpose-built venues, for up to 620 people
* Over 100 bedrooms
* Bar and Brasserie
* Award winning Spa, Health and Leisure Club
* 18-hole golf course

Over six years down the line, how has she leveraged membership of The Delegate Wranglers? And, how does she feel it’s worked out?

The Opportunity of Boosted Perception
With so many different areas of the business under her remit, Louisa is always looking for effective ways to engage her target audiences.

She was aware of The Delegate Wranglers and its highly engaged community of everything from event buyers and venues to suppliers and freelancers. And she was keen to unearth untapped potential by getting more involved.

“Besides getting enquiries, I felt The Delegate Wranglers would enhance our sense of reputation and market perceptions. I saw it as an enhanced opportunity to network through different areas of the industry. And we’ve become more relevant and accessible as a result.”

How The Delegate Wranglers Membership Delivered
Upon joining, Louisa and her team wasted no time in exploring the opportunities membership unlocked for them, including:

• Promotional Hours - Submitting posts during the exclusive weekly Superstar Hour in the Facebook group, on Mondays at 1.00-2.00pm, (in addition to the regular Supplier Hour, every Wednesday at 1.00-2.00pm)

• Trade Show Partnership – Louisa is a great advocate of stand sharing with mia, beam and Venues of Excellence at key industry shows, rather than going it alone. She has since added The Delegate Wranglers stand share opportunities into the mix, adding the stand is always “well-located, looks good, buzzing.”

• Press Releases – Louisa makes a point of submitting press releases to The Delegate Wranglers when there’s something to shout loudly about, to ensure maximum exposure amongst the industry and key publications.

• Recruitment – They’ve recently recruited a new Head of Meetings & Events as a direct result of advertising the vacancy in the Jobs section of The Delegate Wranglers weekly newsletter.

Results Like Nowhere Else
Opportunities for getting involved are one thing. But generating ROI is another thing entirely. So, what are the main results Louisa has seen during her time as a member?

She’s won a significant amount of business. But surprisingly, it’s not just come from direct leads, but also from competitor recommendations!

“There are lots of hotels and venues on the platform, and we’re all happy to endorse each other,” she says. “This doesn’t happen elsewhere. But here, it’s the ‘done thing’ for competitors and other industry colleagues to make recommendations if we can’t help with enquiries. I’ve converted many leads this way, from being tagged into enquiries by my equivalents at other venues!”

For all these reasons and more, Louisa doesn’t hesitate to recommend membership to other hospitality and events professionals.

“Get stuck in, don’t sit on the periphery!” she concludes. “When you take advantage of everything that’s on offer with membership, it will have a low effort high impact effect on your business.”
