Sarah Custance Studio

As an award-winning architectural artist, I use the skills learnt through studying and practicing architecture in London for 15 years to create detailed fine art capturing events.

I began my career as an architect with a passion for pen and ink drawing. I graduated in 2007 from the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL and received the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) national award for Excellence in Architectural Drawing.

I worked for 15 years in London as an Architect at award winning and internationally renowned practices.

In 2020, I started to experience insomnia and drawing became key to my recovery - if I draw, I slept better. Through this journey, I rediscovered my love of drawing. So now, I draw.

My style layers pen, ink and pencil drawing with watercolour, acrylic and metallic paint to capture incredible spaces and events.

Following 20 years in London, I now live in Hitchin, Hertfordshire with my husband, twin children and Goldendoodle puppy Bramble!
