The multi-million pound redevelopment at Twickenham Stadium will offer six floors of creative event space within the East Stand

From the moment you enter the huge stand that runs the full length of the pitch, the first thing that struck us was the sheer scale of the facilities here.

This was a ‘Sneak Preview’ that we were really looking forward to. It’s been 4 months since we first viewed Twickenham and ran our Venue Showcase report - when we got the chance to view some of the fantastic meeting spaces available to hire at the home of England Rugby. Fabulous as they were, we couldn’t wait to return to check out the brand-new facilities at the revamped East stand. And boy, we weren’t disappointed. From the moment you enter the huge stand that runs the full length of the pitch, the first thing that struck us was the sheer scale of the facilities here.

Marketing Manager, Laura Jefferies, said: “The new East Stand adds an additional nine spaces to the existing 24 we have at the stadium, turning Twickenham Stadium into a real destination for events. It’s now easier than ever for clients to contain their whole event within the venue, utilising multiple stands and offering different experiences. The East Stand allows us to think very differently about the look and feel of our events and push the boundaries of a traditional dinner or conference.”

To give you an idea of some of the amazing spaces, we’ll run through a few of them here:

If it’s somewhere different to take a group for something informal then the Union Ale House on level 1 has a fab pub vibe and works brilliantly for pre/ post conference drink receptions as well as other informal gatherings / parties. Also located on level 1 is the modern, simple, but exquisite chop-house style restaurant named ‘The Gate L1’, offering an authentic steakhouse with a dark and moody atmosphere, low lighting and open brickwork - featuring a Chef's Table for up to a group of forty-eight guests. Located on level two of the East Stand, you will find the second Gate restaurant ‘The Gate L2’ which is split level with two beautifully designed large bars and natural daylight.

Level 3 is home to ‘The Lock’ – comprised of Lock No. 4 & No. 5 – Lock No. 4 gives you a huge bar and is perfect for a drinks reception or a standing up event – it offers clear views of the famous pitch as well as views towards central London. Lock No. 5 is a premium space with similar views to Lock No. 4 and both are also ideal for mid-sized meetings as well as gala dinners, awards and Christmas parties.

The Clubhouse which includes the fab Clubhouse Bar & Kitchen and the Clubhouse Restaurant, is a large and fabulous space - situated on level 4. The Clubhouse Bar & Kitchen is a very bright, open plan space with open ceilings and is ideal for drinks receptions for up to 1,000 guests, or smaller exhibitions and showcases. The adjoining Clubhouse Restaurant can be used in conjunction for seated lunches or dinners.

‘The East Wing’ located on level 4A, is a totally glorious dining experience and the most premium space within the East Stand. It comes complete with a mixture of luxurious furniture, two stunning large bars and the most glorious booths (seating up to 30 people in each booth) – which are perfect for private dining without being locked away in a quiet room. To put it succinctly, this room is MASSIVE and has lovely views of the pitch on one side and views of Twickenham on the other. When it’s set for a drinks reception or informal standing buffet, the East Wing can host 400 people or slightly lower than that for a seated dining experience at one end.

The British Airways Rose Garden on level 5 is absolutely stunning – probably my favourite space at Twickenham, and that’s not an easy decision to make as there are tons of glorious rooms. Super bright and airy, despite not having views of the pitch, this room is the perfect place to hold a drinks reception or informal dining, fashion show, product launch and much more, for up to 550 people. Guests can enjoy pizzas from a stone baked pizza oven or utilise the rotisserie at the other end and a glorious bar is prominent in the middle of the space with a central stage area for acoustic performances – wow!

These new spaces at Twickenham improve an already fantastic venue and take it to another level. From all manner of formal or informal dinners, right through to experiential events, Twickenham has got the lot - it really has. Get yourself booked in for a show-round with Laura and the team at your earliest opportunity. Be one of the first to see it – I promise, you’ll love it!
