For our latest SUPPLIER FOCUS feature, we caught up with the fab Elaine Ranahan, Director of Sales & Marketing at Novotel London West to find a little bit about her and this fab venue!
Q. Hey Elaine - tell us about your business and your role there
A. I’ve been Director of Sales & Marketing at Novotel London West for the last four years. The hotel is Accor’s largest property in the UK. With 630 bedrooms and catering for up to 1,000 delegates in our largest space, we are also one of the largest & most flexible venues in London. I oversee a talented and dynamic Sales team, both proactive and reactive.
Q. How did you get started in the industry?
A. Unintentionally. I didn’t know what I wanted to do after school so I decided to study Business Studies and Hotel & Catering Management which I thought could present many options. I went straight into Hotels after finishing my studies and have been very fortunate in that one role has always opened the door to another. I started in rooms and several roles later made my way over to MICE. I then changed direction again and was an RM for nearly 10 years! I decided at that point that I wanted a role that was more commercially rounded and the opportunity presented itself at NLW. I’m happy that I accepted the challenge.
Q. Best moment for you at your company so far?
A. There have been a lot so difficult to choose just one but I would say that I still get great satisfaction seeing the team get excited about a win, whatever the value. These days, and with all the competition out there, it is not an easy task so I never get tired of it!
Q. How can your organisation’s services make a Delegate Wrangler’s life easier?
A. The flexibility of our product means that we have something to suit everybody. We deal with a variety of sectors and have a skilled and dedicated team on hand at all times who take great pride in delivering great events.
Q. And finally - you’ve got one question to ask a famous person – who would it be and what would you ask?
A. I’d love to speak with Roger Federer but I’d have to meet him in person as fear I may be too star struck to get any words out…
