For our latest SUPPLIER FOCUS feature, we caught up with Lucy Dean, Co-founder and Creative Director of Ultimate Event Dancers to find a little bit about her and what her company does
Q. In a nutshell, tell us about your business and your role there
A. I am co-founder and Creative Director of Ultimate Event Dancers and this year we celebrate our 10th year in business! UED is London’s leading suppler of elite dance entertainment but we work across the UK and internationally too. We provide dancers and create performances for corporate events, private parties, product launches, TV and cruise ships.
Q. How did you get started in the industry?
A. My adventure into the world of dance started at the tender age of 2 and a half when I started ballet lessons! Dance has been my passion ever since. I trained at the Liverpool Institute Of Performing Arts and then spent 15 years working as a freelance professional dancer. The progression into working as a choreographer led me to form Ultimate Event Dancers.
Q. Best moment for you at your company so far?
A. It’s so hard to choose just one moment! We have had so many amazing experiences over the years. One fairly recent memory that springs to mind was the opening night of the New York themed Christmas show that we created at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes last year. The corporate show ran throughout December and sitting in the technicians booth, watching a crowd of 2000 enjoying our creation on opening night was a really proud moment for me.
Q. How can you you guys make a Delegate Wrangler’s life easier?
A. We like to think of ourselves as the one-stop-shop for all things dance and there really is nothing we can’t create or deliver. Whether it’s popular requests such as Gatsby style entertainment or a Greatest Showman performance, or something more bespoke and unusual, we love to give creative ideas to help our clients win proposals and deliver exceptional results every time. We are not a 3rd party agency, we own all the costumes and know all of the dancers on our books personally so we can deliver the best talent for the job at the best possible price.
Q. And finally - you’ve got one question to ask a famous person – who would it be and what would you ask?
A. It would have to be Ginger Rodgers! I’d love to ask her all about what it was like working in the golden era of Hollywood and also some gossip on Fred Astaire and what it was like to dance with him. I just love all the work they created and could watch them all day long!
Special Delegate Wranglers Offer!!
We would love to offer Delegate Wranglers a 10% discount on their first booking with us.
