For our latest Supplier Focus feature, we caught up with Sarah Banks - Cluster Sales Manager for Jurys Inns & Leonardo Hotels in Southampton
Q. In a nutshell, tell us about where you work and your role there
A. I'm Cluster Sales Manager for Jurys Inns & Leonardo Hotels in Southampton, I head up our Sales Team of 7 across our 2 hotels, Jurys Inn Southampton and Leonardo Royal Grand Harbour Hotel Southampton. The hotels are 2 of Southampton’s largest properties with 443 bedrooms across the 2 hotels and meeting space for up to 500 delegates!
Q. How did you get started in the industry?
A. I commenced my journey in the hospitality industry in 2001 when I worked as a part time receptionist for IHG, based at the Holiday Inn Fareham, here I climbed the ladder and by 2004 I was promoted to Head Receptionist…..the rest is history!
Q. Best moment for you at your company so far?
A. By far, the most incredible moment for me was firstly being promoted from single Sales Manager to Cluster Sales Manager just 13 months after joining the company and secondly building my own team from scratch in the latter part of 2019. My team that I have across the properties were selected and handpicked by me and they are incredible! My hotels and my team have a fantastic future ahead of us!
Q. How can your organisation’s services make a Delegate Wrangler’s life easier?
A. Our team across the hotels from Meeting & Events, Groups and Corporate Sales are specialised in their individual roles and are know exactly how to manage each and every diverse enquiry. They are fast paced and adaptable and work seamlessly from one task to the next ensuring every one of our clients is happy.
Q. And finally - you’ve got one question to ask a famous person – who would it be and what would you ask?
A. Robbie Williams….Will you marry me?
