For our latest SUPPLIER FOCUS feature, we caught up with the fab Tia Jayne Goadby, Business Development Manager at Imago Venues to find a little bit about her and their fab venues!
Q. In a nutshell, tell us about your business and your role there
A. I am a Business Development Manager for Imago Venues, Loughborough University, in Leicestershire. I primarily focus on the lovely agents we work with. This includes travelling throughout the country to visit their offices, account management and exhibiting at a range of Industry Exhibitions. We have a portfolio of five unique and versatile venues that are available all year round except the campus itself, these include:
- 4* Burleigh Court Conference Centre and Hotel
- 3* The Link Hotel
- Holywell Park Conference Centre
- Elite Athlete Centre and Hotel
- Loughborough University Campus
Q. How did you get started in the industry?
A. I’ve always loved organising events, the first proper event I organised was when I was 16, it was a concert and fashion show as part of the Oxjam festival in aid of Oxfam in Leicester, and it was AMAZING! This whet the appetite that led me to going to University to study Entertainment Management, I didn’t quite know what I wanted to do in the Events Industry so this course gave me an opportunity to cover a broad range of modules from festivals, theatre, conferences, marketing, sports and much more! After university I started as an Events Sales Executive at one of the most iconic hotels in Leicester City Centre, I worked my way up from there which led me to my current BDM role at Imago Venues, and I absolutely love it!
Q. Best moment for you at your company so far?
A. I absolutely love networking! It is imperative in my role to always continue to grow my network and agency contacts, a regular and favourite feature in my diary is representing Imago Venues at the various HBAA, MIA & AIEA events throughout the year. So, I was honoured when this was recognised by both the HBAA & MIA with both asking whether I would be interested in being more involved. I am now an active member of the HBAA Membership Committee Board assisting new members with how they can best maximise their membership as well as an MIA ambassador assisting where required at their events.
Q. How can your organisation’s services make a Delegate Wrangler’s life easier?
A. Not only do we have online 360 virtual tours for all our venues, we are also one of the first in the world to automate them! Which means if our clients cannot look around in person, they have the flexibility of being shown round the venues by our BDM team virtually.Most of our clients are repeat customers, our venues are so versatile and unique that once you give us a go, you are hooked! Our accessibility is second to none, as we are located in the heart of the Midlands with easy access by car (M1), air (EMA/BHX), train (mainline), bus and even helicopter! We recently had a clean sweep at the M&IT Awards 2020 taking home three gold awards in every category we were nominated for, we are extremely proud of this as it is voted for by our customers and we were the only company to walk away with three golds, so we must be doing something right!
Q. And finally - you’ve got one question to ask a famous person – who would it be and what would you ask?
A. Some people may not know about my secret (not so much now) obsession with all things wrestling! It is my escapism! So, I would ask the legend that is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, will you train me to be a wrestler!? (And of course, I wouldn’t accept no for an answer!)
