This hotel is a fantastic business hotel – and we mean that in every aspect. Fabulously stylish bedrooms, all of which have been refurbished this year. Incredible food, wonderful swimming pool, gym and spa – and I mean, WONDERFUL! But what you will really love is the fab meeting rooms here, flexible, lots of options and then there’s the fab Conference Café – what’s not to love here?

The award winning Cottons Hotel & Spa is part of the House of Daniel Thwaites and is a notable example of the perfect business hotel but with the added bonus of a wonderful, and recently refurbished, spa and swimming pool. In a nutshell, it’s in a fantastic location, had excellent conference facilities, recently refurbished bedrooms, fabulous dining options and super friendly staff. Like I said earlier – perfect!

As you turn into the Cottons Hotel & Spa car park, you are greeted by the familiar site of the Thwaites deck chairs – love them! A familiar site for regular guests who stay at House of Daniel Thwaites properties and it’s easy to see why. As mentioned in the hotel, this place is really easy to love – in fact to prove this, Marketing Cheshire also agree, having recently named Cottons as ‘Hotel of the Year 2018’ to add to its collection of awards.

Once you enter reception, there is the chilled bar area to the right and a couple of dining areas to the right. Deeper into the hotel is the marvellous swimming pool, spa and gym – more about all of those later.

With 13 flexible meeting spaces spread across two floor and the famous Conference Cafes you know you’re in safe hand when you walk through the doors.

Bedrooms: The bedrooms in the Cotton Hotel & Spa are really nice. They have all benefitted from a refurb in the last 12 months and you can really feel the quality. My room was lovely and comfortable with a large flat screen TV and super luxurious bathroom, including a TV screen at the end of the bath! Who doesn’t love that? But it was also all the little touches – like a HDMI slot being easily accessible so you can plug in your PC for Netflix etc. I can really recommend the bedrooms here.

Number of floors: 3 Business centre: No but any printing and photocopying can be done at the Conference Reception or at the main lobby reception desk

Wi-fi: Yes, free and fast access throughout the hotel

Fitness gym: Yes, the hotel has an excellent gym – a really decent size with lots of equipment, machines and free weights. There is also a workout studio that runs regular classes, or you can use yourself if not occupied.

Spa & Swimming Pool: Recently refurbished, the spa and swimming pool area is absolutely knockout! Not only is there a 13 metre swimming pool but also a fabulous outdoor hot tub (loved it!), relaxation area, colour therapy sauna and fibre optic steam room. In addition, there are also 7 treatment rooms using Caudalie Spa Treatments and products

RESTAURANTS & BARS

To the left of reception are the main dining spaces for the hotel – the fabulous Terrace, which has masses of natural daylight and a fab menu including a glorious chef’s table which is perfect for lunch and the Restaurant which comprises of 50 covers immediately as you walk in and a further 80 in the courtyard area – again masses of natural daylight

The bar to the right of the reception desk, is very stylish with lots of different seating options. Perfect for meeting people or having a drink and bite to eat. Whilst I was there, there was a few small groups having meetings and doing some work etc, proving that this is a very vibrant space.

MEETING / CONFERENCE ROOMS

It must be said that the 13 meeting rooms here are excellent. There is something for every type of meeting, whether that be a small boardroom meeting or a room for an interview, right through to an awards ceremony or medium sized dinner.

Spread over the ground and first floor you also get the benefit of two of Thwaites’ famous Conference Cafes – which include luxury coffee machines and lots of snacks freely on offer for all delegates. Love the Conference Cafes!

Lunches can also be taken here, but usually the hotel advise groups to move downstairs to the restaurant which is set up perfectly for buffet lunches – which also gives delegates an alternative space away from the meeting room for a while. Always a good thing in my opinion.

Registration desks can be sited outside most meeting rooms or for any on the first floor, there is a lovely lobby area which lends itself perfectly to it as well.

All meeting rooms here include natural daylight and plenty of free AV equipment – such as screen, projector, PA and microphones.

Verandah Suite Situated on the first floor the Verandah Suite is the largest meeting room in the hotel and can be used in its entirety or can be split into two. It commands lots of natural daylight and has a nice foyer area outside, perfect for coffee breaks etc. This room is great for medium sized conferences, dinners or awards (it even has built in star cloth!). As one large room: Natural light: Yes Size: 258 Sq.M Reception: 200 Theatre: 200 Cabaret: 120 Dinner: 180 Location: First floor AV Equipment included: Screen, projector, PA and microphones

Cheshire Suite The Cheshire suite is the 2nd largest meeting space in the hotel and is conveniently located on the first floor. Again, there is lots of natural daylight and bags of AV kit as well. This room is perfect for a large boardroom meeting or small conference Natural light: Yes Size: 101 Sq.M Theatre: 80 Cabaret: 50 Boardroom: 30 U-shape: 30 Location: First floor AV Equipment included: Screen, projector, PA and microphones
