Built in 1983, Crowne Plaza took over the building in 2005 and have developed it into Nottingham city centre’s largest hotel in terms of bedroom and meeting spaces. Arriving by car, it’s perfect, as it has it’s own 600 space car park attached to it – which was great! For large conferences, if you ask them nicely, they will even offer you free parking there!

Reception is located on the ground floor and provides a sneak preview of the style within. The first thing that hits you as you enter is the large double registration desk for conference clients. This would be the perfect way to greet your clients on arrival at the hotel – to be honest its one of the best examples I've seen in a hotel. Very visible and can be fully branded with banners etc.

Once you climb up the main stairs or take the lift to the first floor, this is where the hotel really comes to life. You enter an area known as the Arcade which has really high ceilings, flooding in masses of natural light and is home to lots of comfortable sofas (with their own built in power sockets – great idea!). It also contains the Swatch Bar & Lounge, the Swatch restaurant and the Lace Maker restaurant, which is mostly used for breakfasts and conference lunches etc. This demonstrates how large and airy this area is – perfect coffee break area for your groups.

Parking: 600 spaces - the car park is adjoined to the hotel. There is a parking rate but this can be waived for larger meetings held at the hotel.

Coach / Bus Pick-up Location at hotel: Yes, directly outside the main front entrance

Number of bedrooms: 210
The bedrooms are split into three types: standard, superior and executive. The executive rooms are all on the 8th floor and permit access to the Club Lounge (also on the 8th floor), with free drinks and snacks etc.

Bedrooms: I stayed in a superior room and it was really nice – as mentioned earlier, all the bedrooms and public areas of the hotel were refurbished 12 months ago so it was contemporary yet really comfortable. One massive plus point in my bedroom was that, amazingly, it included Sky TV, as do a selection of other upgraded rooms. How fab is that?

Number of floors: 8

Business centre: Although there isn't a business centre, the hotel reception can attend to any basic photocopying, printing etc. There are also computer terminals in the lobby so people can access email, print boarding passes etc.

Wi-fi: Yes – free and very easy access. Worked really well in all areas of the hotel that iI used my phone and PC

Fitness gym: Yes, there is a perfect medium sized gym in the hotel with around 7 or 8 cardio machines, lots of free weights / kettle bells, and quite a few other pieces of equipment too. I really liked it and it was plenty big enough for quite a few people to use at the same time.

Spa & Swimming Pool: Yes, the hotel has an excellent spa called 'Urban Escape Spa' complete with heated swimming pool, steam room, ice station, relaxation area, gym and super comfortable changing rooms. Plus an amazing choice of treatments in any of their four treatment rooms. I used the gym, swimming pool and steam room on my visit and they were fantastic and I totally recommend you use them if you stay here.

RESTAURANTS & BARS
The hotel has two restaurant and one bar – all situated on the 1st floor of the hotel. The Swatch Bar & Lounge is a really nice place to be with lots of different seating options to relax, grab a bite to eat or do some work. I really liked it. The main restaurant is the Swatch restaurant – which is where I had a fantastic...and I mean FANASTIC, sirloin steak for dinner. I have to say that the restaurant and bar staff were super friendly and gave great service too. The Lace Maker restaurant is also on the 1st floor but at the other end of the Arcade and is used mainly for breakfasts and conference lunches etc.

MEETING / CONFERENCE ROOMS

There are 17 meeting rooms in the Crowne Plaza Nottingham meaning there are lots of options and flexibility for meeting planners to consider when booking a meeting here – including Nottingham city centre's largest hotel conference room – the fab Royal Suite which can hold 400 in theatre style!

The Arcade on the 1st floor is an excellent place for coffee breaks, networking events and it would be fantastic as an exhibition area as it is a large space allowing plenty of stands around the edges.

There are also a couple of Conference Cafés located just off the Arcade – these are shared areas that contain coffee machines, cold drinks, some light snacks, etc – and they usually come as part of the package with meeting space.

The Royal Suite

The Royal Suite is fantastic meeting room that can hold large numbers. Situated just past the main reception desk on the ground floor, it is best served by using the registration desk in the lobby that immediately faces delegates as they enter the hotel.

Once in the room it has totally clean view - I.e. no pillars or chandeliers and can be used in a multitude of set-ups. Access for AV companies for equipment and sets is also really good with double doors straight into the room, directly from the loading bay. It also has a pre-function space outside which is perfect for coffee breaks, pre-dinner drinks etc.

It’s also worth pointing out that just off the pre-function space is the Regent meeting room, which would be ideal to use as an organisers office / green room / slide ready room etc.

Other meeting rooms in the property are split into two locations:

** The remainder of the meeting rooms (some with natural daylight) are located on the 1st and Mezzanine floors of the hotel (Hampton, Windsor, Highgrove, Kensington, St James, Talbot Suite, Balmoral Suite, Sandringham Suite, Clarence Suite and the Buckingham Suite). All of them look out onto the Arcade area – thus giving easy access for coffee breaks , lunches which are served in the Lace Maker restaurant. The meeting rooms here are small and medium sized and some of them can be combined with the room next door to make an even bigger space. Best for medium sized conferences, breakout rooms, etc.
