DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole

Everything the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole does, it does it BIG! This is the largest residential conferencing hotel in the South East of England, it’s a seafront show-stopper that does more than just grandeur - this venue has top notch meeting spaces, and some really special sustainability goals too!

Across 321 bedrooms, there’s twenty four event spaces that cover nearly every solution. Every single one of those spaces can cater to private dining, across all 5000 square metres of space they have on offer, there’s facilities for up to 3000 guests - all within some of the most brilliant spaces in the country.

The stand-out space at DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole might just be the Converted Chapel “the clarence suite”. This incredible space dates back to 1819 and is a microcosm of the hotel as a whole: Classy, elegant, historic. This is a big, beautiful hotel, done right - for guests and event profs.

From the outside, this is an impressive hotel that lives up to the Metropole name. Its large red-brick exterior is accented by parapet detailing and lovely white balconies which really bring the sea-facing facade of this building to life! It’s harder for large hotels to stay impressive and glamorous from the outside too, but this beach-side delight has it in bucketfuls (pun intended…)!

Onsite at the venue there’s 200 car parking spaces, as well as a designated coach drop off area for when the whole team is rolling out for an away day/team building stay! Although there’s currently no EV charging points at the hotel, they are coming next year! In the meantime, the staff were keen and easily able to point out the nearest spots, just minutes away across this forward thinking city!

Delegates will be wowed as soon as they walk into the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole. The reception area features a huge, statement stairway up to the first floor which splits into two and arches upwards to create a really stunning centrepiece of this space. The reception staff were absolutely lovely here, and always had time to help us no matter the request! The bedrooms at this venue are brilliant too. All three hundred and twenty one are kept to an amazing standard, having just undergone a £26 million refurbishment. So many of these rooms also offer genuinely breathtaking views of the sea, you can stare out of the window and watch what looks like an infinite sprawl of blue fade out into forever!

Knowing us at the Delegate Wranglers, we headed straight to the spa, to access the amazing sauna, steam room and pool (the Largest hotel pool in Brighton) - don’t get us wrong, we love to work hard… but we might just swap the “play hard” for “chill out”! This space is really calming and well put together, and it doesn’t stop at the pool, indoor lounging space, and health facilities, there’s also a beauty treatment lounge for those looking to get glammed up - maybe even before your next event!

If the spa doesn’t take your fancy (although we can’t imagine that) then the amazing 1890 restaurant might be the place for you. This is where you’ll find breakfast each morning, as well as some amazing dining experiences in the evening, the restaurant is complemented by the wonderful Metropole Bar which is open all day long. The cocktails, coffee and bottomless brunch here are off the charts! Both of these spaces offer amazing sea views and can be hired out privately.

We must tell you about the wonderful 'Le Petit Chef' here too! It's a culinary spectacle in 3D! Le Petit Chef, the world's smallest chef, will be presenting a sophisticated 3D cinema experience directly on your plate, combined with a fun dining adventure. Before, during, and after your meal, the little chef will entertain you with various performances and projections. Once the food is served, the show takes a back seat, and it's time for "curtains up for culinary delights!" This dinner theater experience has captivated families worldwide. Diners can choose from three different menus (Classic / Vegetarian / Junior) - check out more info HERE

We mentioned the wonderful sustainability efforts here at the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole, and it’s clear that that’s a key focus for the team here. They conduct daily energy usage site inspections, send zero waste to landfill, and are the only venue in Brighton that’s eco-certified by Google! When it comes to events, the team has a seriously innovative approach to sustainability; they'll offset your event’s carbon footprint by converting your energy usage into Carbon Credits, which are then used to support projects with Clime Co! We loved this, it felt like the team had considered every possibility when asking ‘how can we be the absolute best at sustainability’ and they truly are!

As you might have guessed, there’s quite a few meeting spaces in this huge venue. 24 to be exact, so while we don’t have 24 meeting space highlights to give out unfortunately, we’re going to try and do our best to give you the scope of just how fantastic, functional and versatile these spaces are.

The meeting spaces are really where this hotel comes into its own, from small function rooms flooded with natural light and sleek decor, to genuinely gigantic spaces, to character-filled areas with tonnes of history, this venue uses every square metre (5000 to be exact) to perfection.

While not in our highlights, the Sussex lounge provides a brilliant spot to be used as a registration space, its small size but strong proximity to the larger spaces makes it a perfect pick for this! The hotel also has numerous loading in and loading out entryways, which make bringing in your event cargo a doddle!

MEETING SPACE HIGHLIGHT : Oxford Suite
Wow… this room is huge! So big in fact that it has its own dedicated floor - directly accessible through the hotel’s lobby, easily navigating any confusion for potential event goers - and let us tell you if you’re using this space, there will be a lot of them! This is an amazing space with seriously ridiculous levels of usage. The team here told us that just before we visited, a team had full scale fairground rides and dodgems in the space! Loading in huge equipment like that is simple too, with vehicle entrance directly from the venue’s adjacent street. We know this might be sneaky, but the Oxford Suite also is complemented by the Oxford Gallery, a really brilliant space perched at the top of this huge conferencing and events room that overlooks the entire space, perfect either as a control room, or a catering space!

MEETING SPACE HIGHLIGHT: Regency Suite
If you’re not looking for a planet sized room, and just a very large space, look no further than The Regency suite, another great option at the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole. A brilliant quirk of this space is that the room can be split into 4 separate spaces, each with their own entrance. This means the room is mega flexible and can be configured in any way you fancy for a large/mid-sized event like conferences, dinners or awards.

MEETING SPACE HIGHLIGHT : Clarence Suite
Last but absolutely not least is the Clarence Suite. This is the Chapel space we mentioned earlier in the showcase, and wow, does it deliver. Walking round inside this room it’s beyond impressive and dates back to 1819. There’s huge ceilings and incredible ornate architecture that just make this one of the most unforgettable spaces we’ve visited in a long time, it’s also totally a huge wow for guests, with it being totally different from anything else you’ll find in this hotel, or maybe even Brighton as a whole! This space is perfect for dinners, ceremonies and more!

Summary
Across the board, this venue is fantastic with brilliant options for your next event everywhere you look. The size of this venue is just magnificent, the biggest across the board, from the swimming pools, to the huge efforts in sustainability, to the vast Oxford Suite. Everything was just a little above and beyond - even down to those iconic, warm DoubleTree cookies waiting on the pillow when we arrived!
