Hard Rock Hotel Davos

What a hotel! Really funky and cool, right from the start, I was impressed every single minute I was here. As well as the undeniable Hard Rock vibe throughout the hotel from the moment you walk in, there were also really cool and functional meeting options for you to use too – thus not only serving incentive groups (which it is perfect for by the way) but also for smaller conferences when you need to get away to somewhere stunning for a few days. Amazing staff, stunning food, beautiful scenery and amazing activities on tap nearby, the Hard Rock Hotel Davos is now a real favourite of mine and I honestly can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended!

This fabulous hotel set in the heart of the breath-taking Swiss Alps has so much to offer for you, not only in terms of a fantastic incentive hotel (which it is) but also for small conferences and getaway meetings. It’s got a fantastic vibe which is prominent throughout the hotel, from the meeting rooms, to the fabulous spa through to its funky restaurant. We absolutely loved it here!

Distance & time from nearest railway station: It is a 5 minute walk from Davos Platz station to the hotel
Official star rating: 4 Star Superior

There is so much to say about this hotel. Even getting there is fantastic! The train journey from Zurich to Davos, via a change at Landquart provides awe inspiring scenery and should be seen as part of the whole experience.

Once you arrive at Davos and take the 5 minute walk from the station to the hotel, you are surrounded on all sides by the magnificent Swiss Alps. If you think you’ve seen mountains before, you aint seen nothing yet – as someone famous once said!

I’ve never been asked on check in before if I’d like a guitar in my room or a turntable and few vinyl albums! So, you know you are in for a funky stay right from the start. The reception area, although only small is really nicely laid out – you get to see the funky ‘GMT+1’ bar and ‘Sessions’ restaurant both filled with genuine rock star memorabilia – but more of those later!

The hotel is split across 3 buildings and has 94 bedrooms in total, as well as a gorgeous (and brand new!) ‘Rock Spa’ complete with gym, pool and six treatment rooms.

As we are based in the Alps and this is a skiing / outdoor pursuits resort, there’s also a ‘Bike Room’ where you can store and maintain your mountain bike, as well as a ‘Ski Room’ for storing your skis and boots etc.

It is worth pointing out that when you make the journey to visit a place like Davos, you should also build in the various wonderful outdoor things you can do here, into your programme. During our stay we took the fabulous cable car journey up to the top of the stunning Jakobshorn mountain and what a treat it was! Sitting at 2,600 metres it was the highest place I’ve been to on land during my lifetime and experience I will ever forget. Benefitting from a gorgeous summer August day, the views were spectacular – wow!!

There are plenty of other options to build into your programme too. For example, you can hire electric bicycles from the hotel and go on a guided trip. There is a trip to Switzerland’s highest brewery in nearby Grisons or you can even go to an Alphorn workshop. So many options and things to take advantage of whilst you’re here.

Number of bedrooms: 94 consisting of 60 deluxe or superior rooms and then there are 34 Rock Star Suites / Rock Suites / Studio Suites (some of Suites have fully equipped kitchens too!)
Bedrooms: The bedrooms here are really cool and funky with tons of nice touches. From the optional guitar or turntable, right through to the guitar motifs on the pillows, you know you’re in a Hard Rock Hotel. The beds are super king size and are extremely comfortable. I stayed in a Deluxe room which had a lovely balcony and fantastic views of the mountains, complete with a hanging chair to relax in. The bathrooms are really special here and it must be said that through every single part of the hotel, the fit out and materials used are absolutely first class – definitely with a 5 star feel
Number of floors: 6
Business centre: No, but any photocopying / printing can be done at reception
Wi-fi: Yes, totally free and extremely fast throughout the whole hotel.
Fitness gym: Yes, there is a brand new, and gorgeous, gym in the Rock Spa with resistance machines and free weights
Spa & Swimming Pool: Wow. We were lucky enough to visit here when it was only two weeks old and, in a word, it was stunning! Complete with six treatment rooms, and a lovely swimming pool, you were encouraged to take the ‘Spa circuit’ which involved all the various aspects – sauna, steam, shower treatments, ice, etc – it was amazing! Add to this a fabulous and large jacuzzi and various water jets in the pool, it made for a fabulously relaxing experience. And in terms of the finish, the materials are unbelievably top class – one of the best spas we’ve ever visited. I can’t give it a higher compliment than that.

RESTAURANTS & BARS
The GMT+1 bar sits just through the reception area and was a very cool place to be – lots of cocktails available as well as bar snacks etc. There were places to relax here, catch up on a bit of work – if you really have to!!

Sessions restaurant was just beyond the bar on the ground floor and was one of my favourite places in the hotel. Offering 100 covers – it has a mixture of table sizes and was very funky with the walls adorned with various genuine memorabilia from people like Michael Jackson, Madonna etc.

There is also a gorgeous private dining room called ‘The Studio’, just next to the bar (near reception) which has memorabilia on the walls and is truly glorious. I loved this room, which seats 10 people for a really special dinner or meeting (breakout space etc).

In terms of food, it has a lot to offer – as well as the normal menu, during our stay there was a Mongolian buffet to choose from which was a fantastic experience – you chose and collected your various fillings from the buffet table (all in funky pots) for a stir fry, handed them over to the chef and he would make your meal fresh with the waitress then delivering it back to your table. Loved this!

As you would expect, everything was super funky, and the staff gave fantastic and friendly service throughout.

MEETING / CONFERENCE ROOMS
There are 6 meeting rooms in the hotel and something for every type of meeting. From the traditional meeting spaces of Greenroom I, II & III right through to the awesome ‘The Chapel’– your clients will love these options. And given that you are in a Hard Rock Hotel in the Swiss Alps, there are very much in keeping with the environment.

For instance, you can arrange for a DJ to be playing in the Greenroom foyer whilst your delegates enter the room – how cool is that! What a fabulous and funky option. Loved this!

The Chapel
Over the course of 20 years of being an event manager, I’ve used diverse types of rooms before, but never a chapel! This fabulous and gorgeous meeting space has an unbelievable wow factor – built in 1882 this even still has a pulpit where you can present from – love this! With built in AV equipment and lots of options, your client will love this room. Recommended for drinks receptions, dinners and board meetings
