The ICC Wales is a stunning 26,000sqm venue that is situated just a stone’s throw away from the M4 in Newport, South Wales. Having only just opened its doors to the public in September 2019 it promises to be major asset for Wales, enabling it to compete with any venue in the UK or beyond.
A superb auditorium, and a huge 4,000sqm pillarless ballroom (the largest in Europe) are amongst the 18 world-class, purpose-built event spaces here, with all of them having been kitted out with the latest technology. However, there is so much more to this venue than just it’s amazing event spaces.
The entire venue is very inclusive, designed and built with ease of access for those with a disability in mind. A great example of this, is the Changing Places Toilet including full lift and hoist facilities.
The ICC Wales is also rightly proud of its green credentials, being awarded the ‘Green Key’ status for its use of environmentally friendly facilities and building management systems. As well as being energy efficient, it was the little things like the water stations and re-useable water bottles that were handily scattered throughout the building that we liked.
Entering the site and making your way past the fabulous outdoor plaza, you are greeted by a huge and impressive red Welsh dragon. This plaza is a great place in its own right and makes for a really fab entrance point. From here, you can enter the stunning atrium with its super high ceilings and living walls that are dotted around - you can just imagine the branding opportunities, especially with the huge screen that is immediately behind the main reception desk as you enter the building!
From the atrium, all the main meeting spaces can be easily accessed, including the surrounding woodlands that you can get to directly via a dedicated bridge on the 1st floor. So, if you’re in need of a bit of time for mindfulness, then make the effort to venture outside and enjoy the ponder pods, wildlife watching stations and woodland walks that are available here.

RESTAURANTS & BARS
Here at the ICC Wales, they believe food is not simply to nourish the body but must also to nourish the mind and soul as well. It is this philosophy that is at the centre of all the food they serve and as a consequence they are raising the benchmark for conference catering with exciting new culinary thinking.
Using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients, they are able to offer nearly any food you can imagine, all made to an incredible standard. From street food or sit-down meals, through to buffets or mobile bars, the ICC Wales has got you covered and is leading the way in culinary trends and nutrition. Moreover, they are fully aware of the ever-increasing concern that delegates have towards the environmental impact of events. Therefore, they have a programme to reduce waste wherever possible and recycle what they can, with waste food being used to generate power for the grid.
There are also two coffee shops at the ICC Wales, that offer a range of crisps and confectionary along with a selection of tasty bites for breakfast or lunch. Both are very relaxed places, with the first being located in the main entrance on the ground floor and the other located in the Plaza View foyer on the 1st floor.
MEETING / CONFERENCE ROOMS Spread across all 3 floors, the ICC Wales has 18 world-class meeting rooms and conference spaces, with each offering something unique to your event. What’s more, due to all the rooms being purpose-built for events, the flexibility here is superb. As a consequence, they can offer you and your delegates an entirely bespoke event in a truly wow space. So, whether you are looking to hold an event for 10 people or for over 4,000 people, there is a room here for you.
Designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible and with wellbeing in mind, the spaces here focus on bringing the outdoors in! Little touches of class are everywhere to be seen, with all the rooms being state of the art and feeling modern, bright and airy.
Large scale registration is best done in the main atrium, where 8 LED registration desks (complete with iPad docks) allow for fast check-in for your delegates. Otherwise it can be done on the large open floor spaces, outside each meeting room, that are dotted around each floor.
Main Hall
Situated on the ground floor, is the stunning 4,000 sqm Main Hall. Fully carpeted throughout and with 9-metre-high ceilings, this modern purpose-built exhibition hall is completely pillarless and, in fact, is the largest pillarless ballroom in Europe. Divisible into 6 sections, it is also wonderfully flexible too.
Again, masses of nice touches have been added to this space, elevating any event held here to another level. A great example of this, is that the large square LED architectural lighting panels in the ceiling can be individually coloured or used together to give zoning for exhibitions – we loved this!
This space would be perfect for exhibitions, awards, dinners or absolutely anything. There are also 2 entry points for direct vehicle access, making it perfect for car launch events. You can even hang a car from the ceiling – wow!

Flexibility has not bypassed this room either, as the first three rows can be removed, thereby even giving space for an orchestra if required. Each seat has access to USB/power sockets, whilst also having individual fold out tables. We loved this!
As far as managing an event goes, this place makes it easy for you. Not only does it have dedicated production access and loading at stage level, there are also green rooms and a range of production packages available. So, whether it’s lectures, conferences, screenings or shows – this place is perfect for it. Trust me, this space is amazing.
