The stunning 1850’s waterfront Redcliffe Hotel looks out imperiously over the English Riviera. First built as a magnificent home, then turned into a classic hotel in 1903, one hundred years later, The Redcliffe Hotel is undergoing exciting renovations that will make it a go-to destination for event-goers in Paignton for the next century
A Grade II listed building, this incredible hotel has 63 bedrooms ranging from Standard Single to Seaview. Car Parking is free with over 100 spaces for guests at your event. Otherwise for transport Paignton station is less than 15 minute walk away, and what a walk it is, down the stunning coastal path.
Events wise, the Redcliffe is unstoppable, three acres of land and direct access to the beach (in ways you’d never expect!) make this hotel rife with team building opportunities. Their four magnificent event spaces can accommodate 1-200 people, with weddings as their specialty! With all of these incredible features to be turned up to 11 with the newly approved renovations the Redcliffe team told us they’re planning to have the hotel be the “Ultimate Celebration of Luxury”.
The Redcliffe has an incredible, storied history, spanning multiple centuries and you really feel all of this history as you approach the venue. The seafront location means that this venue, perched on the English Riviera can be seen for miles around, it feels like a symbol of everything that Devon is. This hotel has been in possession of the famous Singer family for decades before recently being acquired by Tudor Hotels, who have been the team behind the Redcliffe’s exciting restoration.
Reading through the restoration plans is a joy to behold for any event planner. The team here have been granted unprecedented permissions on this grade II site to do some stunning work that seeks to retain the history and enhance its identity. The standouts in the renovation plans see the function rooms refurbished and the external building adding onion domes onto the castle-esque parapets. The early renders of the concept are stunning, the team here have thought about everything from viewpoints, sightlines and nighttime lighting. We mean it when we say we’re genuinely buzzing to check out what this already incredible building ends up looking like.
As part of the Redevelopment plans the number of bedrooms will be reduced from 63 to 55, to allow for more luxurious rooms, that have more space to feel super premium, that all said, we absolutely loved the rooms on our visit and hope that the team keep the fantastic identity that combines modern amenities with a hint of regal antiquity. The sea view suites are to die for, but the standard rooms are no slouch either, providing picturesque views of the Devon countryside.
Speaking of the countryside, the events team at the Redcliffe told us how important it was to them to be a sustainable venue, and this is reflected in their Eco Smart accreditation, the team also spoke with us at length about the exciting propositions about eco-friendly initiatives incorporated into the renovation process. The restoration itself will bring forward thinking, environmentally friendly concepts for this historic venue to take into the future.

The Redcliffe offer a Dip and Dine package that sees you able to book a session in the pool room for just £15, with £5 credit to use in their restaurant, a great bonus to offer team members!
The restaurant itself is fantastic, named after Paris Singer. There’s such a romantic feel about this space, with gorgeous decor, detailed carpets that show off the history of the venue, and most importantly, amazing seaside views of the Devon shoreline, this is an amazing place to wind down, and suits large scale private dining perfectly, but we’d suggest waiting until our meeting space highlights for that one! Food wise the menu spares no expense, with its set menu taking advantage of the seaside location to offer amazing locally sourced Cod and Haddock and the Sunday Lunch showing off the Redcliffe kitchen’s take on a classic English Roast Dinner. The bar adjacent is also a wonderful space, with a huge menu and wine list to boot. These are all super flexible spaces too, with the team able to do specific, bespoke catering for so many scenarios!
Finally is the team building, remember when we told you that you wouldn’t expect some of the things The Redcliffe have instore for your team building event, well we’re here to lift the lid, under the Redcliffe are secret tunnels that run directly to the coastline - providing a thrilling and unique pathway to one of the south's most stunning views, up-close and personal! The aforementioned three acres of private grounds make this an ideal spot for team building of any kind, the high ceilings indoors lending themselves to fun indoor games days if the weather goes funny on you. The team had so many ideas for housing special team building events here, we loved their keenness for this important sector of our industry.
Now for the meeting spaces, and they truly are stunning, each offering a glimpse into this venue's storied history, while also boasting some really inventive ways to utilise these classic spaces.
It goes without saying that weddings are a specialty at The Redcliffe and it’s one of their most common uses as an event space, the direct access to their gardens and terraces mean that family events really come to life across the hotel’s four main rooms, The Ballroom, Paris Singer Room, The Isadora Duncan Suite and the Morning Room. The events team here, who we can’t say enough good things about, had such a grasp on what makes a great event. When discussing weddings here, the team told us they want to make your wedding say as unique as your love story, and we were sold straight away on their ability to make ceremonial dreams come true! That all said, we’d love to point out how the venue’s rooms could be used for some other interesting events - so let’s get into the highlights!
