Tewkesbury Park

This really is an excellent conference hotel in a lovely part of the country. The recent £9million renovation, which saw the addition of the fabulous Cotswolds Suite is perfect for lots of different sized meetings and will provide an amazing wow factor. And trust me, that room is amazing! In the hotel itself, the nine historic suites are really something special, as are the various bars and eating options – especially the fantastic Orangery, where the food was utterly delicious. On top of this there’s all the excellent leisure options – Tewkesbury Park has an 18-hole par 73 parkland golf course, academy course, practice range, putting green, squash and tennis courts. The Leisure Club’s gym, sauna, steam room and indoor swimming pool were all refurbished last year too. But the thing that left the lasting impression on me was the excellent staff who were superb from start to finish. If you are looking for somewhere different to take an incentive group or a senior board meeting, then look no further – get yourself a site inspection booked in asap! I loved Tewkesbury Park.

This luxury 4-star hotel is an absolute gem! Located in the heart of the Gloucestershire countryside, nestled on the southern tip of the Cotswolds, the hotel exudes history, style and amazing food. Fantastic leisure activities and superb meeting spaces – including the excellent new Cotswolds Suite, which was added last year. Quite simply it’s one of the nicest conference rooms I've been in a long time. Wow - what a place!

Tewkesbury Park is only five minutes from M5 junction nine, on the doorstep of Tewkesbury and within easy reach of Cheltenham, Gloucester and Worcester. The family-owned Tewkesbury Park which completed a three-year extensive renovation in 2017 costing £9 million is a truly glorious hotel.

On entering the grounds, the long drive will take you to the hotel and past its 18-hole golf course. The main house dates back to the late 18th Century and even though it's over 200 years old, the recent renovation completely restored it, and the new complements the old beautifully.

The stylish lobby is spacious and allows plenty of room for your groups when they arrive. The front desk staff were super friendly and gave us a very warm welcome - this is a recurring theme throughout the hotel and they made us feel really welcome at all times.

Adjacent to the lobby is the stylish Piano Lounge, with the main bar and lounge areas up a couple of stairs providing ample space - perfect for a large group. These spaces have a lovely contemporary feel and are ideal to stop by for a bite to eat, catch up on some work, or have an informal meeting.

There is so much to tell about the hotel; the golf course and academy, the leisure facilities, including the gym, the spa, the swimming pool, the croquet, the Orangery - and that's before we talk about the meeting spaces, which are fantastic.

Parking: Over 200 spaces - all totally free

Coach / Bus Pick-up Location at hotel:
Yes, masses of space to drop off outside the main hotel entrance. Coaches can also park without any problems in the main car park.

Number of bedrooms: 93 - there are 9 x Historic Suites, 54 x 'Just Right' rooms and 30 x 'Touch of Class' rooms

Bedrooms: We were lucky enough to stay in one of the historic suites, King George IV suite on the 2nd floor of the 18th Century Manor House, it was truly amazing, commanding stunning views of the Cotswolds countryside and beyond. The suite included a huge Hypnos Super king-sized bed, a large wall mounted plasma TV, separate dressing room, a fantastic bath & shower and a desk that sat in the middle of the large bay windows. Definitely the best view I've ever had whilst typing up this report!

The other types of rooms in the hotel (Touch of Class and Just Right rooms) were in the newer part of the hotel and both smaller in size but all really tastefully decorated. There are a number of rooms with patio doors and deckchairs, perfect to enjoy your morning coffee. Definitely still a luxury feel and would be perfect for your groups.

Number of floors:
Three

Business centre: No but the reception desk can undertake most printing etc

Wi-fi: Yes, superfast throughout the hotel - which is to be admired given the thickness of some of the walls!

Fitness gym: Yes - the gym was a really good size for a hotel and contained excellent Life Fitness equipment. There is a combination of cardio and resistance equipment (machines & free weights) as well as a separate studio, which operates class-based activities as well.

Spa & Swimming Pool: The hotel has a really good indoor-pool – approximately 10m long so great for exercising. Also located in the pool area is a sauna, steam room and best of all…an outdoor (but covered) jacuzzi!! Perfect to unwind after a hard day – even if it’s raining outside!

There are masses of other leisure activities at the hotel – for example we enjoyed a game of croquet and golf putting on the lawn and then there is the golf course!!

RESTAURANTS & BARS
The main lobby bar is wonderful place to grab a drink or a bite to eat. We had lunch there and it was truly delicious. There is also lots of space and nice sofas to do a bit of work in this area too. Located close to the reception is the Piano Lounge which offers even more space to relax and is even dog friendly so that people can eat here and bring their dogs too.

To the rear of the hotel, located next to the new Cotswolds Suite, is the lovely Berkley Bar. Not only does it serve as an excellent registration or coffee break room for larger conferences, but it’s also a stylish standalone bar in its own right – providing a stunning back-drop of the golf course and the Malvern Hills. From the Berkley Bar, steps lead down to a large terrace area with a large BBQ and wood-fired pizza oven and bar. A great alfresco addition to any event – be it anytime of the year.

Speaking of the golf course, ‘No. 19’ has a great bar and café with a very relaxed atmosphere – giving you another dining option whilst at the hotel.

The fabulous Orangery is located towards the rear of the hotel on the ground floor and it is a lovely place to eat. Recently refurbished, with views over the golf course, it is style personified! The meal we had was truly unbelievable and the service was top drawer. This was a similar story when we took lunch as well - knockout food with great service...perfection!

The team and family are keen to source ingredients locally where possible and being close to three counties have an array of suppliers on their doorstep, to include Gloucester Old Spot Pork, Grafton Farm Lamb, Hereford Beef. I love this!

MEETING / CONFERENCE ROOMS
The hotel has seven meeting rooms in total, with the centrepiece being the utterly brilliant and recently finished Cotswolds Suite, with its floor-to-ceiling windows providing plenty of natural light. In addition, there are the elegant smaller rooms (Earl of Warwick & Duke of Gloucester) both of which are great for breakout rooms, or as private dinner venues - especially with the stunning views they afford. Rounding off the meeting room options is the excellent Roses Suite which can be used in its entirety (250 theatre) or split into two rooms (100 theatre style in each). It is worth pointing out that every meeting room in the hotel has click share, which is a great thing to offer your clients.

Cotswold Suite
As mentioned earlier my favourite meeting space in the hotel is the Cotswolds Suite – which has a real wow factor. Your clients will absolutely love it. One side of the room offers amazing floor to ceiling views over the golf course and beyond – it’s stunning! It feels so light and airy in the room – which I absolutely love. You can use it as one large space or it can be divided into three smaller rooms (Broadway, Burford & Bibury). There is a large video wall with cutting edge sound system – which looks brilliant. It truly is an amazing space and would be perfect for medium-to-large sized conferences, dinners or car launches (you can drive several cars into the room). Go see it – you’ll love it!

Duke of Gloucester
This is a gorgeous room located just past reception on the ground floor and connects to the equally fabulous (but slightly smaller) Earl of Warwick room. With its stunning backdrop, it’s the perfect venue to hold a boardroom meeting, or even better to use it as a private dining room. It’s such a classy room with gorgeous windows and views that it puts a smile on your face as soon as you walk in. It’s also worth pointing out that it has a superb 60” mirror flat screen TV for presentations – you won’t believe it’s a TV when you walk in!
