Parking: The hotel recommend using 'Go Park' which is a public car park on High Street, just opposite the hotel. There is also valet parking for hotel residents - at a small charge

If you are looking for a UK location make sure Belfast is on your list, What surprised us the most was how quick and easy it was to reach. We flew Liverpool to Belfast and no sooner were we up in the air and we were preparing to land, quicker than our train travel to London!

With 62 highly appointed and elegant deluxe bedrooms and suites in 2 different room styles - the Victorian Splendour rooms are designed to reflect the Victorian heritage of the original building while the Art Deco inspired rooms reflect the very best of this era with sleek and elegant style. Super stylish and varying in style - the individual design of each room is super cool. There's also four wheelchair accessible bedrooms.

Fitness Gym: The Gym at The Merchant Hotel provides members and guests with an excellent range of equipment and facilities. It boasts a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning suite including a substantial range of free weights and functional training equipment. These facilities are complemented by a sleek Art Deco design, panoramic city views and a fabulous thermal area which includes a rock sauna, steam room. Our changing rooms include complimentary toiletries and towels. The Gym is open daily and is open for members and hotel guests.

There's also an 8 person rooftop hot tub with a view over the Titanic Quarter.

We found an outstanding food and drink offering here at The Merchant. The Great Room Restaurant is the jewel in the crown of the hotel and undoubtedly one of Northern Ireland’s most extraordinary restaurants Bert’s is such a great space, a lovely recreation of a 1920s New York bar, all intimate lighting, oak parquet floors, deep red leather banquettes, French bistro-style food and live jazz every night. An award winning the Cocktail Bar known for its rare spirits, vintage Champagnes, and a cocktail list of encyclopaedic proportions.

The Great Room Restaurant - The hotels fine dining restaurant and jewel in the crown of The Merchant Hotel. The sumptuous surroundings and architecture of the former banking hall creates a unique 5* dining experience. An AA rosette awarded restaurant and an architectural gem with a myriad of original features, renowned for its iconic afternoon tea. Also where we serve breakfast and is available for private hire.

Berts Jazz Bar - Bert’s Jazz Bar is Belfast’s only dedicated Jazz bar and restaurant with live jazz every night. A French Bistro style Jazz Bar where guests will find themselves instantly transported back to the chic, intimate jazz bars of 1920’s New York. Bert’s can accommodate up to 48 guests for a private lunch event Monday – Friday, evening hire may also be considered Monday to Wednesday. So take a seat, soak up the sophisticated atmosphere and let the cool jazz melodies wash over you.

The Cloth Ear - The Cloth Ear provides patrons with a pleasing twist on the quintessential Irish Pub. We absolutely LOVED this meeting space! Wonderfully light and well-proportioned, The Rita Duffy Suite is ideal for press events, product launches, fashion shows, meetings, conferences, breakfast meetings, lunch and dinner parties (up to 150 guests) and evening receptions (up to 200 guests). The Rita Duffy Suite can also be separated into three individual rooms to cater for more intimate events.

The Alan Quigley Room is the only room to offer the Victorian styling of the original building. This unique room features the artwork of talented local artist Alan Quigley and an imposing antique mahogany table. This charming room makes for an elegant boardroom (with a fixed boardroom table) and / or a stunning private dining room.

Best use for room: Breakfast meetings, lunch and dinner, boardroom style events. Really suitable for smaller and more intimate gatherings

Roof Garden

Espaliered apple trees, box hedging and festoon lighting make this space a charming city oasis. The distinctive “profile” of Cave Hill somewhat resembles a sleeping giant and is said to have inspired Jonathan Swift to write his famous novel Gulliver’s Travels. A fully retractable roof allows flexibility to cope with a range of weather conditions. Drinks and finger food can be provided for parties of up to 70 people. An enduring appeal of this versatile space is our ongoing inventive theming. Each spring/summer and autumn/winter we transform this stunning space with a delightful seasonal theme.

Décor/Design features: The Roof Garden is perfect for quirky private parties, corporate events and weddings with a difference. In Spring the Roof Garden will be transformed into a Summer Garden Party; sit back and relax with tea, cakes, cocktails, and seasonal delights such as mini goats cheese tarts and crispy calamari. In Winter the Roof Garden becomes a winter woodland theme where you can cosy up and enjoy mulled wine and warming Winter Pimms with mini steak and onion pies and croque monsieur fingers.
