The View - Royal College of Surgeons of England

This truly glorious building, freshly renovated, is located right in the heart of central London, overlooking Lincoln’s Inn Field and has some amazing and historic meeting spaces for you to delight and wow your clients.

Whilst still providing a state-of-the-art research centre for The Royal College of Surgeons, this amazing building has masses of character from its super grand entrance lobby right up to the glorious 6th floor, with its brand new meeting space, appropriately named, ‘The View’.

The final piece in the jigsaw here is the wonderful catering provided by the in-house team from Searcys – with 175 years’ experience and expertise - you know the quality of the food will be one of things your clients will be talking about long after the meeting ends.

What can you say about a historic, working, scientific building that offers two glorious meeting spaces such as The Lumley Library with its vast number of amazing medical books on two levels, and The View with its stunning 6th floor views across central London? One word is ‘glorious’ – both offering something completely different but both totally unforgettable. When you back that up with the amazing catering that Searcys provide, you know you’re onto a winner.

The building has been home to the Royal College of Surgeons since 1800 and is the professional home of surgery in England and internationally. This is an amazing wow factor, particularly for any medical / pharmaceutical groups you might be working with.

It also has impressive sustainability practices too. 100% of timber materials used on site were FSC-accredited certified to ensure they meet the highest environmental and social standards with forestry organisations worldwide. There are 111 solar panels installed across the new building, with sensor-controlled lights in each space help contribute towards energy efficiency. And importantly no waste goes to landfill from this venue. Waste is separated into general, recyclable, food and glass, batteries and print toners. We love all these aspects – so important these days!

On arrival at the venue, the walk from the nearby Holborn or Chancery Lane underground stations takes around 5 minutes from each, and you are immediately hit by the lovely Lincoln’s Inn Fields directly opposite the entrance with its six impressive pillars before you enter the spacious lobby area, with its towering atrium. It really does have that wow factor.

From this lobby area, any groups are directed to the lifts or stairs to the 1st or 6th floors where all the meeting spaces are located.

Parking: There are lots of parking spaces in and around Lincoln’s Inn Field although as with most venues in central London, it’s probably best to take public transport.

Coach / Bus Pick-up Location at the venue: Yes, coached can pull up to pick-up / drop-off directly outside the main entrance. The road outside is very quiet so this works perfectly.

Number of floors: 6

Wi-fi: Yes, this is a free service and worked very well during our visit

Restaurants & Bars: One major plus point for here is that the F&B is operated and managed by Searcys which guarantees amazing food – always a vital point of any event. There is a café (also ran by the Searcys team) just through the lobby, this provides a place to relax or walk in to catch up on some emails etc.

The View meeting space is glorious, as we will discover. But married to that is a whole heap of breakout rooms, a lovely mid-sized room called ‘The Briefing Room’ that can be split into two sections and of course the wonderful Lumley Library.

Number of meeting rooms: 6 main meeting rooms and 24 exam rooms

Location of meeting rooms: The meeting rooms are on the 1st floor and on the 6th floor

Registration usually done: Outside the meeting room is the best place for registration although it can be done in the lobby if required too.

Meeting Space Highlight: The View
Located on the 6th floor, The View, is split into two separate sections which run around two edges of the building, with the glorious and super bright atrium in the middle

The Conference Suite is the perfect place to hold a conference, as it has masses of natural light, those amazing views and lends itself well to this type of meeting.

The Park View Suite also is great for conferences but can also work equally well for coffee breaks and lunches as it also has a balcony offering view of the Lincoln’s Inn Fields with two smaller rooms at either end which are great for use as an organiser’s office or green room.

Typically, a group would arrive and then use the atrium area for registration, coffee breaks or pre-dinner drinks, before going into one of the main rooms for their conference or dinner. And quite simply, the views of the Shard, London Eye and more are stunning. Truly.

There is even a smaller more intimate room just off the main library called the Erasmus Wilson room – perfect for private dinners.
