Wicksteed Park is a fantastic venue, especially if you are looking for something a little bit different. We would say it’s perfect for company away days. I mean where else could your group have a go of a fabulous climbing wall, spend some time on the fair, take a train ride round the lake and have a conference and dinner in a fab Edwardian Pavilion? And then don’t forget their two new fab space coming soon – 2020 will also see the launch of the glorious Boathouse venue with its own beach. From its inception in 1921, Wicksteed Park has been entertaining the public for nearly a century with its attractions, grounds and adrenaline activities. So, we jumped at the chance to check out their excellent conference / team building facilities and learn about what’s new on the horizon for them including two brand new fabulous meeting spaces – exciting times ahead!

Distance & time from nearest airport: Birmingham Airport – 45 minutes (48 miles) by taxi and Heathrow Airport – 90 minutes (70 miles) by taxi
Distance & time from nearest railway station: Kettering station – 10 minutes (2 miles) by taxi. It’s also worth pointing out that St Pancreas in London is 55 minutes by train from Kettering, so easily accessible to the capital.

Standing in 147 acres, the facilities and event spaces at Wicksteed Park have been entertaining people for nearly one hundred years and it’s easy to see why. There is something here for everyone. Located centrally in the country, the venue sits on the outskirts of Kettering with brilliant travel links – road access is especially good with the A14 located only 5 minutes away. When you drive into Wicksteed Park you are immediately hit by the sight of some funfair attractions such as the carousel, log flume and the train that goes around the lake in the distance – yep, that’s right, Wicksteed Park has its own train! If you fancy something a bit more energetic – they have their fab brand new Clip ‘n Climb centre with 28 indoor climbing walls (to suit all levels) and their famous Adrenaline Tower with of one of Europe’s fastest and longest (310m) zip lines as well as a free fall bag jump. The next thing you notice as you get a bit closer is the glorious Edwardian Pavilion which is one of the main attractions here from an event organisers perspective.

Parking: 2,000 parking spaces – free if you are using the conference facilities
Coach / Bus Pick-up Location at venue: Yes, no problem at all. Coaches can pick up / drop off right outside the Pavilion and then park on the grounds.
Accommodation: No accommodation onsite as this is not a hotel, but they do have links with nearby hotels so rooms can be sourced if needed
Business centre: Although there isn’t a designated business centre on the park, any photocopying / printing can be done by the main reception team
Wi-fi: Yes, free access
Fitness gym: n/a but lots of land in case fitness team building activities are requested
Spa & Swimming Pool: n/a

RESTAURANTS & BARS
All catering is handled by the venue onsite – offering dinners up to a maximum of 800

As well as providing large scale catering for conferences, events and dinners, there are five cafes on Wicksteed Park - including the opportunity to get pizzas, paninis, fish & chips, burgers, and their very own ice-cream parlour etc. Masses of choice and really excellent facilities. In terms of the catering for events, this is all done in-house from their substantial kitchen.

MEETING / CONFERENCE ROOMS
Wicksteed Park has a number of different meeting spaces including:

  • A fantastic and flexible Pavilion (which can be used as one large room or two separate spaces)
  • A lovely and bright Terrace room (for up to 120 in theatre style) which is currently under construction – ready for XX (Sam – is this still Feb? - MARCH – offering fantastic view of the grounds from a stunning glass terrace
  • Clip & Climb – which is a fabulous indoor climbing facility, absolutely perfect for team building with masses of climbing activities for all levels
  • Currently under construction (ready in 2020) is the glorious Boathouse which is going to offer lakeside location – absolutely perfect for receptions, dinners, launches, etc – this promised to be fab.
  • Two brand new boardrooms, kitted out with top of the range AV and in-room tea & coffee making facilities, for up to 10 people each

The Pavilion
Wicksteed Park’s glorious Pavilion is the jewel in the crown here. Seating over for 600 theatre style, 400 cabaret style, makes it one of Northampton’s largest venues with their dinner capacity being 800! Wow! The room can be divided into two if required as well – making it great for association conferences & exhibitions. With excellent access capabilities, you can drop off from a coach directly outside the door, straight into a pre-function area (perfect for registration) before you enter this glorious Edwardian ballroom. Accompanied by a couple of smaller meeting rooms, perfect for breakout / organisers rooms, this is an excellent place to hold a large conference or dinner for your groups.
