Wolverhampton Racecourse & Holiday Inn Hotel

Nestled just a mile from Wolverhampton's city centre, the Wolverhampton Racecourse and the onsite Holiday Inn come together to make a really unique venue that seamlessly blends professional facilities with an exciting racing atmosphere you’ll struggle to find the likes of anywhere else.

There’s lots to love about Wolverhampton Racecourse, this is so different from so many of the venue’s we’re used to visiting, so we were really impressed by not just extraordinary versatility but also the professional credentials behind this great location which bring it to the big table.

Boasting the prestigious AIM Secure accreditation from the Meetings Industry Association (MIA) - this is a seal of approval from the UK's only nationally recognised standard for service providers in the events industry.

The Holiday Inn hotel on site feels contemporary and welcoming. It’s got a relaxed vibe that really connects with the expansive racecourse facilities next door making this a comprehensive solution for everything from intimate business meetings to large-scale corporate events and festivals.

It feels like every venue we’ve visited in Wolverhampton is so well located. Maybe it’s some smart city planning, or maybe venue owners in Wolverhampton just know where to put a venue! That said, The Racecourse’s strategic location is a game-changer for event planners.

Situated just 1.5 miles from Wolverhampton Railway Station and a convenient 45-minute journey from Birmingham Airport, the sheer accessibility of this venue from just about anywhere in the country (and thanks to the airport - the world!) is something that really got us on board, before even walking through the doors.

We checked out the Holiday Inn first and we have to say, this is a really smart hotel. The lobby is welcoming, and the staff are really friendly. Offering 54 modern rooms, each equipped with free Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions, and private bathrooms, ensuring that out-of-town delegates have a comfortable and convenient base at your event. We loved the simple and sleek design of the hotel, and the contrast from the charming, more traditional design sensibilities in the racecourse. There’s a nice yin and yang between the two key locations, meaning there’s something for every kind of event at this venue!

What truly sets this venue apart from so many more traditional meeting space offerings is its unique event customization options. Event organizers can add racing to their meeting agenda, creating an unforgettable team-building experience. We have seen lots of innovative ways of team building, but the thrill of a live race might just be one of the best ways. We challenge your delegates not to get caught up in the excitement.

Beyond the thrill, glamour and excitement of the racecourse’s atmosphere, there lies a really impressive, practicality that is the bedrock of any great venue. We’re always looking at venues with functionality at their core in our venue showcases, and This Wolverhampton location has it in abundance.

There are 1,500 parking spaces. Yep, you heard us 1500. There’s also dedicated coach parking on site, meaning accessibility is never a concern.

The dining setup at the Wolverhampton Racecourse boasts an impressive array of dining options, featuring 4 restaurants and 10 bars strategically located across the site. These spaces are shared between the hotel, which has its own really smart restaurant and buffet area, and the racecourse itself. We particularly loved the spaces in the hospitality suites with floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning trackside views.

On our trip down however, the standout dining space was the Horizons restaurant with its tiered seating, individual table screens and providing panoramic views of the racetrack. The restaurant serves a seasonal three-course plated meal, complemented by a carefully selected wine list. The menu features a variety of dishes, such as French Onion Soup, Daube of Beef, and Espresso Crème Brulé, catering to each and every delegate's tastes - ours included!

For teams looking to build connections, the venue offers an exciting range of team-building activities through their partnership with Eventurous. From outdoor adventures like archery and treasure hunts to indoor challenges including escape rooms and circus skills, there's something to engage and motivate every team.

Sustainability is another standout feature that caught our attention. The venue has achieved zero waste to landfill across nine sites, with ambitious targets for recycling and responsible sourcing. We were impressed by their commitment to ethical sourcing - from Red Tractor approved meat to MSC-certified fish, and 100% sustainably sourced cocoa.

With 12 versatile meeting rooms, Wolverhampton Racecourse can boast itself as a truly complete venue package. The rooms range from the expansive ground floor 'Ringside Suite' to intimate hospitality boxes and medium-sized spaces on the first floor.

Complementing the indoor spaces, the venue offers extensive outdoor areas perfect for festivals, away days, and charity events. The centre course, a 19-acre grassed arena located within the racetrack, can be transformed into a fully operational area for outdoor events such as tented shows, displays, and so much more.

The Racecourse also has a supplier list for entertainment, catering, and activities, meaning no request goes unanswered when planning your event with the amazing dedicated team here. There’s also a dedicated loading entrance for events that require a slightly larger setup, with the main hotel reception serving as an ideal registration point for those bigger gatherings.
