To celebrate Brighton as our Destination of the Month, we caught up with a few Brighton people to find out more about the services they offer for event professionals - this time we spoke to Maisie Phillips of Leonardo Hotels
DW: Hi Maisie, tell us all about your role for Leonardo Hotels in Brighton – you cover three properties, don’t you?
Maisie: I am Director of Sales at the Leonardo Hotels in Brighton- my primary role is introducing clients to the hotels and account managing a client base of our three Leonardo properties in Brighton. As a sales team we are focussed on meeting and events and corporate groups / individual bookings. With over 645 bedrooms and 27 meeting spaces , there really is something to offer for every different client requirement and budget! I love promoting Brighton as a destination to bring your next event.
DW: You have some fantastic meeting spaces across the Brighton Leonardo venues, tell us a bit about some of your favourite spaces
Maisie: My favourite space would have to be the Empress Suite at The Grand Brighton. It is the largest sea view facing event space in the UK holding up to 900 delegates in theatre style layout. The space is most frequently hosting large scale conferences and events but is versatile for smaller numbers as can be broken down into 4 spaces with its own private entrance.
The Leonardo Royal Hotel has a range of meeting spaces with sea views , which are perfect for smaller numbers from 10-50 people which clients are always very impressed with! The Leonardo Hotel Brighton meeting space is super modern all with natural daylight and a very popular choice especially due to the location being right next to the train station.
DW: Brighton is absolutely buzzing at the moment – what do you love about living in the city?
Maisie: I love being by the sea! I definitely take it for granted and love finishing work with a drink on the beach, watching the sunset or a run along the seafront. It is such a vibrant city with a friendly culture and there is an amazing choice of activities and restaurants. I love how the countryside is also right on our door step when relaxing on the weekend. The accessibility to London is great and also Gatwick Airport for when getting away.
DW: Is there anything else exciting happening at the three Leonardo Hotels in Brighton that you want to share with us?
Maisie: We are currently transforming Brighton’s most iconic hotel by investing £16.2 Million in The Grand. We are investing in our future while respecting our history as an iconic presence in Brighton since 1864. Our bedrooms are being transformed and invested in with £16.2 million to meet the expectations and changing needs of our guests.
Please reach out if you wish to come and see- I promise you will not be disappointed! Christmas parties are very popular in Brighton and we have festive offerings at all three Brighton properties from joiner/shared parties, Christmas day lunches and New Years Eve parties.
