First Sight Media returns to support 24th BTOG Annual Conference

Video production and event technology specialist First Sight Media recently delivered comprehensive hybrid production services for the British Thoracic Oncology Group (BTOG) Annual Conference, held from 4–6th March 2026.

Marking the first time the event has been hosted at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) after three years in Belfast, the conference brought together over 1300 attendees, including experts from across the UK and internationally, to share advances in therapeutics, radiotherapy, diagnostics, and multidisciplinary care.

First Sight Media deployed a nine-person crew to work alongside the EICC technical team to manage the program's technical complexities over three days. The team filmed sessions across four concurrent theatres, streaming content to overflow areas to manage high attendance. The hybrid format also integrated remote speakers, who were dialled in and projected live to the onsite audience, ensuring a seamless flow of information between digital and physical participants.

Reflecting on the event’s success, Dawn McKinley, COO at BTOG, noted, “We were delighted to welcome colleagues to Edinburgh for the 24th BTOG Annual Conference. The programme reflected both the pace of innovation and the importance of collaboration in thoracic oncology. We looked forward to three days of rigorous science and meaningful connection, and the technical support provided was essential in bringing that vision to life.”

Behind the scenes, the crew managed the speaker preview area, collecting and preparing all presentation materials to ensure the packed agenda ran on schedule. To enhance the delegate experience, First Sight Media utilised a suite of high-end hardware and custom software. Sessions were captured using Sony Z280 and Sony A7 cameras, with vMix Pro used to create custom-designed backgrounds featuring a mix of live content and camera feeds.

For dynamic signage, the team programmed a large high-resolution (1.6mm pitch) eight-panel LED infographic wall driven by a custom-designed webpage. This is updated every five minutes to provide delegates with real-time schedule updates and venue mapping. Sponsor and member visibility was further supported by five 50-inch displays in the sponsored satellite symposia gallery, highlighting diamond and platinum sponsors, alongside an interactive LED totem touch screen that allowed attendees to visualise the locations of BTOG members across the UK. To capture the energy of the event, a dedicated highlights video was produced using Sony A7 cameras paired with DJI stabilisation and audio gear.

“Our involvement with the BTOG Annual Conference is built on a long-term relationship centred on trust and a deep understanding of what the client requires. This familiarity allowed us to innovate where it mattered, ensuring we delivered the best possible outputs for the BTOG team. By managing the technical complexities, from speaker previews to multi-theatre filming, our goal was to enable the BTOG team to focus entirely on their mission of education and research.”
