Wyboston Lakes Resort has signed the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge, joining more than 600 leading conference and events industry organisations worldwide since its launch at Cop26 in signing it or expressing their support for the campaign.
By signing the Pledge, the resort has committed to support the goal of net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 and to actively promote and advocate for industry efforts. It will also
• Before the end of 2023, publish its pathway to achieve net zero by 2050 at the latest, with an interim target in line with the Paris Agreement’s requirement to reduce global GHG emissions by 50% by 2030
• Collaborate with partners, suppliers and customers to drive change across the value chain
• Measure and track its Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions according to industry best practice
• Report on its progress at least every two years
"More sustainable, no apology - is how we express our total commitment to sustainability and to driving down our carbon emissions. In 2022 we published a four-year Green Energy Roadmap, with phase 1 completed this year. Our 2023 ESG report gives further evidence of our commitment to Net Zero and Signing this Pledge is clear indication of our determination to continue to move forward to these goals.”
Louisa Watson, Director of Marketing at Wyboston Lakes Resort
Following on from the launch in 2021, Net Zero Carbon Events published a Roadmap as a helpful resource at Cop27 in November 2022. It is available as a Full Report with comprehensive information on how to implement action to achieve Net Zero, and as an Executive Summary
Its eight dedicated workstreams recently published "Best Practices for Decarbonisation Pathways," to provide actionable insights and strategies that can be implemented immediately. The document is now available free to download at this link. Full guidance documents are set for release in December 2023 at the time of Cop28.
The eight dedicated workstreams are working to deliver on the priorities identified by the Roadmap - Measurement, Reporting, Carbon offsetting, Venue energy, Smart Production and Waste Management, Food and Food Waste, Logistics, Travel and Accommodation
Net Zero Carbon Events is open to all organisations involved in events. Registration is free of charge, but financial contributions are crucial to developing the campaign.
