St Saviourgate York, part of Central Hall Venues group, has been chosen to host Historic England’s North East and Yorkshire Sector Day taking place on Tuesday 21st June. The one-day conference for 50 members of the heritage sector will be held in the Fulford and Rawcliffe Rooms of the Grade II* Listed building in the centre of York.

Historic England’s regional Sector Days provide colleagues within the heritage sector with the chance to update one another on the latest projects in their field as part of their continuous professional development. A series of speakers will talk about a range of ongoing projects taking place in the region. This event will focus on archaeology and will include updates on topics such as new technology, climate change and public engagement.

As a historic building on the National Heritage List for England and situated within the historic walls of the city, St Saviourgate York was considered an appropriate venue for the event by organisers.

Historic England is the public body which helps people care for, enjoy and celebrate England’s spectacular historic environment. The event will highlight how specialists in the heritage sector are using their knowledge and skills to inspire interest, care and conservation among communities so that everyone can enjoy England’s historic environment.

John Walker, Stakeholder Engagement Adviser at Historic England, comments: “We are hugely looking forward to returning to St Saviourgate York for our latest regional Sector Day. This beautiful 19th century building is a notable and very convenient location right in the centre of York which will provide the perfect backdrop for our event.”
